Requirements
Requirements for Rescue Wing Duty
1. You must be recommended by either the Weyrleader, Weyrleader
2nd, and by the Wing Leader of your current Thread fighting wing.
2. You must have Impressed at least 5 Turns ago or be an
exceptional rider (which will be determined by the Weyrleader, Weyrleader 2nd
and the Wing Leader of your current wing assignment.) Please keep in mind that
this restriction is included as though we were in reality putting together a
team of riders and dragons who MUST be in top form with exceptional flying
skills. The additional clause, so that no-one will be left out, is included so
that any who do not meet the five year Impression requirement can still attempt
to join the Rescue Wings. We do not wish to discriminate against anyone.
3. Riders with healer training (including dragon healing) are
being sought after for the Rescue Wings. Others, who do not have prior medical
training, must pass the basic medical tests that Master Maben will prepare for
us before acceptance into the Rescue Wings. Medical training will be included
during the Rescue Wing Training period, but these tests will help determine
whether or not you are suited for Rescue Wing duties. PLEASE NOTE that this is
fictionally done, so please do not think you must actually pass these tests.
4. Dismissal from the Rescue Wings will occur if any rider
carelessly jeopardizes the life of himself, dragon, wingmates or those they are
assisting which includes violation of any of the guidelines set forth in the
Rescue Wing Guide.
Miscellaneous Information
1. If you are a wing leader or wing second for Thread fighting
wings you will not fly rescue missions during Threadfall. You are needed in your
regular wings. Your patrol duties and on-call status will not interfere with
Threadfall duties.
2. Plenty of rest and nourishment is required before patrol
duties and if you are scheduled to be on-call.
3. Alternating teams (wings) will be on-call every 8 hours so
that when an emergency takes place a team will be ready at all times.
4. Vigilance, alertness, quick thinking and a clear head are
essential for responding to emergency situations and extreme weather conditions.
For instance, alcohol, should not be consumed while you are on call. If you are
under the influence of alcohol or medication, or if you are ill, you should
notify your Rescue Wing Leader and report your impairment so that a replacement
can be found.
5. Schedules will be made available each turn as soon as
possible before the Rescue Wings begin training.
